Winterthur, March 20, 2025 – The Hamburg Fire Department is one of the first major fire departments in Germany to take the step towards electromobility. For a month, two all-electric ambulances (eRTW) from Flux Mobility have been in test operation – a strong sign for innovation and sustainability in rescue services.
The Hamburg Fire Department is one of the pioneers of electromobility in rescue services and is relying on future-oriented technology with the ultra-modern eRTW from Flux. The vehicles were developed in cooperation with WAS Wietmarscher Ambulanz- und Sonderfahrzeuge specifically for the high demands in rescue services.
Ambulances must be ready for use around the clock, meet strict safety standards and function reliably in every operational situation. In order to test the suitability of the eRTW for everyday use, the vehicles are stationed in a trial run of up to two years at several fire and rescue stations – from densely built-up inner-city areas to the port area with special logistical challenges and rural fringe areas with longer journey times.
The all-electric ambulances offer a powerful, sustainable solution for demanding everyday use. They combine a quiet, emission-free drive with the usual reliability of conventional emergency vehicles. Their ergonomic design and intuitive operation improve cooperation during operations and increase comfort for patients and emergency personnel.
"Our all-electrically powered emergency vehicles are an important step towards an even more effective and sustainable Hamburg Fire Department. We are proud to be putting the vehicles, which have been specially adapted for Hamburg, into operation. This project shows that modern drive technology offers numerous advantages for hazard prevention in a major city."
Flux Mobility AG, founded in April 2021 and based in Winterthur, develops high-quality light commercial vehicles with innovative, emission-free drive technologies. In addition, special vehicles are produced. This is based on a flexible platform concept that allows a direct one-to-one replacement of diesel vehicles. Flux is thus taking on a decisive pioneering role in the sustainable transformation of industrial mobility and supports companies in exploiting the potential of electromobility. Flux Mobility's customers include several of the largest municipal companies in Switzerland and Germany.
