New electric motor from a strong partnership: Traktionssysteme Austria (TSA) and Flux Mobility are driving innovative solutions for commercial vehicles.

Winterthur, October 2 – After 18 months of intensive development work under the leadership of Traktionssysteme Austria (TSA) with Robert Tencl (Managing Director TSA), Peter Spuhler (Chairman of the Board PCS Holding), Stefan Meier (Chairman of the Board Flux) and Duga Hoti (Co-founder and Managing Director Flux), TSA and Flux Mobility are inaugurating the first jointly developed electric motor for the emission-free commercial vehicles from Flux Mobility. The drive, which was specially developed for these vehicles, was ceremoniously presented today by Peter Spuhler. The collaboration marks a new milestone in the electrification of light commercial vehicles.

Flux Mobility's mission is to develop emission-free commercial vehicles for simple and flexible use. The partnership with TSA has enabled the implementation of a new drive solution that enables efficient electrification of light commercial vehicles. The collaboration benefits from TSA's more than 60 years of experience in the integration of drives for rail vehicles. TSA's permanent magnet electric motors are now also suitable for driving light commercial vehicles.

Powerful

Thanks to the joint work, a flexible and powerful drive solution has been brought to the market. The TMPW 25A-26-8 electric motor from TSA ensures highly efficient operation of the vehicles with minimal power losses. With an efficiency of over 95% in the drive train, the motor offers an impressive peak torque of 1,200 Nm and a peak power of 220 kW. In the course of the development work, an electromagnetic design of the winding was also introduced, which makes the motor particularly quiet and low in vibration. These values enable our vehicles to guarantee maximum efficiency and the highest level of driving comfort, even under demanding conditions.

"For Flux Mobility, we have developed a completely new type of motor concept for the electrification of light commercial vehicles. What is also new is that the inverter is now part of the scope of delivery. From now on, TSA will have a complete LD powertrain product on offer. This drive solution offers a real alternative to existing systems and delivers improved performance. The great success of the project is largely due to the excellent teamwork and close cooperation with Flux Mobility," says Marius Kohnle, Head of the ROAD division at TSA.

Pioneers of electromobility

With the electric commercial vehicles from Flux Mobility, up to 7 times as much CO2 can be saved compared to a diesel vehicle. The vehicles are available as panel vans with single or double cabs as well as with optional all-wheel drive. Flux Mobility offers customized solutions that are tailored to the specific requirements of customers, be it for municipal authorities such as the police or rescue services or for companies in the construction and logistics sectors.
