Swiss team of experts launches new e-transporter

Winterthur, April 28, 2022 – Flux Mobility AG, founded in April 2021 and based in Winterthur, is presenting its electric transporters to a wider audience for the first time. With this new
generation of electric vehicles, Flux Mobility is closing a gap in the market. Based on a modular platform concept, the company builds customized transporters.

With a range of up to 350 km, a payload of up to 2'500 kg and a towing capacity of up to 3'500 kg, it covers equipment and application options comparable to a combustion vehicle. Flux Mobility aims to transform mobility through sustainable drive technologies. The vehicles were presented to a selected audience at the product launch event. The developers provided insights into the product innovations and the technology behind them, and the vehicles were test-driven.

Customer-specific platform concept closes market gap

The modular platform from Flux Mobility allows a free choice of different chassis variants. These serve as the basis for panel vans, passenger transporters and special bodies. A scalable battery system covers three different capacities. The e-commercial vehicle models currently available largely cover the typical van application areas. However, unlike their diesel counterparts, individual adaptations such as special payloads and trailer loads, wheelbases and vehicle bodies are hardly available. One of the consequences: Fleet operators who rely on electric mobility are sometimes unable to find suitable vehicles.

Duga Hoti, founder and CEO of Flux Mobility:

"Numerous companies and public sector organizations want to fully electrify their fleets in the near future. However, for 35% of the registered transporters, there are no practical electric solutions available on the Swiss market. This example clearly shows that the market demands more flexible electric transporters than are currently available. We are closing this gap in the market with our modular approach for light, individual electric commercial vehicles."

Future-oriented R&D

A range of 350 km is a challenge for today's electric light commercial vehicles. Flux Mobility is working on solutions with a range of over 400 km. In addition, many manufacturers do not currently offer a towing capacity of over 2'500 kg. The company is working on solutions with a towing capacity of up to 3'500 kg. Flux Mobility is also developing electric commercial vehicles with connections to refrigeration systems, for transporting meat and fresh produce, and other auxiliary units.

The initial costs are still higher than those of comparable diesel vehicles. The additional investments are offset by lower operating and maintenance costs. Lower variable costs for delivery vehicles with their high mileage have a significantly greater impact than for private cars. The overall efficiency of over 80% should also contribute to this.

Market Know-how and MAN Partnership

Flux Mobility relies on the expertise of its founders and employees, as well as an established partner. The team includes former employees of Futuricum, the Swiss market leader for heavy-duty electric trucks, and a think tank for electromobility. MAN Truck & Bus Schweiz AG supplies the chassis for the construction of the Flux vehicles. They are based on the proven TGE transporter with its diverse configuration variants and also grant the newly founded company access to its service network and sales channels. This allows operators of Flux transporters to access a reliable dealer and workshop network. The city of Basel is one of the first customers to add the Flux transporter to its fleet. Further electric transporters will be delivered by the end of the year, with Swiss cities and companies among the customers.
